The greatest mentors are the ones who probably didn't realize they were doing the job. I had many opportunities over the years to witness Michael's gigantic intellect, coupled with impeccable grace and gentle character. I still reach to be more like he was, and I'm really saddened to hear of his passing, but I'm also ready to celebrate how very much he had to offer in his time. His contributions to markup technology are something to respect, but his contributions to community are something to warmly admire.
