I took a document modeling course with C.M. Sperberg-McQueen at the University of Illinois iSchool. It was one of the last courses I took while getting my MLIS. I thought for sure it would be dry and boring, but Professor Sperberg-McQueen started the course with theory in a way that immediately hooked me. It was by far my favorite course and put me on a path towards digital humanities librarianship. He also generously wrote a letter of recommendation for my first library internship, for which I am eternally grateful. Such an excellent educator will truly be missed. --
