I'm deeply saddened to hear about Michael Sperberg-McQueen passing away.

I found him very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. His writings have always inspired me to learn about what he wrote.

Michael Sperberg-McQueen himself wrote to me in 2012 few days before XML Schema 1.1 specification became W3C recommendation, when I've been developing subset of XML Schema 1.1 test suite (that became part of W3C XML Schema 1.1 test suite) for Apache Xerces-J.

I offer my sincere condolences to Michael's Sperberg-McQueen's family in these hours of grief. May the departed soul rest in peace.
