Contribute a paper on a topic related to The Role of XML in Publishing Accessible Documents
If you have experience with XML and accessibility, whether as a user, creator, sponsor, or someone who has to write software to support it, we’re interested in hearing from you!
Topics for these peer-reviewed papers might include, but are not limited to:
- Case presentations
- successful addition of accessibility information to existing content
- born accessible materials - what, why, and how
- Technology presentations (short)
- tools to assist creating accessible documents
- tools to render XML-based content for a variety of users
- How Tos or Tutorials:
- how to create good long descriptions
- challenges in making XML from common models (DocBook, DITA, JATS, TEI) into accessible displays
- xxxx
- xxxx
- XML
- Use of XML to tag documents
- Transformation of XML to other formats, in general
- What accessability is and why it is important, at least on an introductory level
The Balisage audience is technical, critical, and highly invested in quality. Successful presentations to this audience are technical and detailed. Successful speakers at Balisage have their hands in data, programs, or processes on a day to day basis. We are far more intersted in hearing from an engineer who may have limited speaking skills but can answer detailed questions than a Vice President of Marketing who may be a polished speaker but is unable to answer detailed technical questions.
